Your elementary school students will always remember the day our instructor arrived in uniform as a Union soldier…
…without a rifle or other weapons, of course!
This interactive session is designed to complement basic teaching about the Civil War, bringing it to life by talking about the “big picture” of the war, Abraham Lincoln’s leadership, information and stories about the life of a soldier, and a chance for students to learn to follow basic marching commands (outdoors if weather permits).

Custom School Talks
What exactly happened during those three days in Gettysburg? How did politics affect Abraham Lincoln’s decision making? How did General Grant and Lee handle the surrender at the Appomattox Courthouse?
We can customize School Talks to go deeply into advanced topics. We can provide a deep dive into the three-day Battle of Gettysburg, narrating through the initial engagement on Seminary Ridge all the way through the disastrous Pickett’s Charge on the last day. Or we can go in-depth into the logistics of clothing, arming, and feeding the armies, describing the stark differences between the well-resourced United States Army and the pragmatic Army of Northern Virginia.
